Possessing an Ounce and a Half of Cannabis in Washington is a Felony

  Source

Sadly the bullsh*t initiatives to legalize marijuana pushed by MPP or the Marijuana Policy Project are a measly 1% about ending the evil, draconian marijuana laws and 99% about making a few special interest groups rich.

And it looks like in Washington state the MPP laws are being used to throw people into to prison that cut into the lucrative profits of those special interest groups that have a monopoly on growing and selling recreational marijuana.

Folks across the United States, remember when the jerks from MPP come to your state and offer to legalize marijuana you should tell them to take their initiative and shove it and go back to Washington D.C.

Here in Arizona the folks from MPP wrote Prop 203 or Arizona's Medical Marijuana Act in the same way. It's basic creates a monopoly that's designed to make the medical marijuana dispensary owners millionaires, while screwing medical marijuana patients.

In Washington State, the possession of up to an ounce of cannabis is legal for those 21 and older, due to the passage of Initiative 502 by votes in 2012. The initiative also legalized cannabis retail outlets, with dozens already open throughout the state. With this in mind, many people still don’t realize that possessing just 50% over the legal amount is a felony, punishable by up to 5 years in prison.

Based on RCW (Revised Code of Washington) 69.50, possessing anything over 40 grams is a class C felony, punishable by up to 5 years in prison, and a fine of up to $10,000 (the same penalty applies for cultivating any amount of cannabis). If you possess even a pinch over an ounce, but no more than 40 grams, it’s a misdemeanor punishable by up to 90 days in jail and an $1,000 fine.

Those in Washington State who oppose this ridiculous disparity should contact their state lawmakers and urge them to remove felony charges for the possession of any amount of cannabis deemed for personal use. You can find out who your district’s lawmakers are by clicking here.
