For the record Valley Metro is the government agency that provides
bus, train or light rail service to the Phoenix Metro area in Maricopa County.
I mostly use the Valley Metro services in Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa and Scottsdale.
We can't circulate petitions to legalize marijuana on Valley Metro properties? 1st Amendment null and void on Valley Metro property, buses and trains. In the new Valley Metro bus book that just came out I saw this page which seems to say you have to get permission from Valley Metro before circulation petitions at Valley Metro Bus stations, train stations or on Valley Metro buses and trains. The paragraph says: Solicitations and petitions are not permitted on board Valley Metro properties without prior approval. It implies that you still have a First Amendment right to circulate petitions on Valley Metro properties, buses and trains only if you ask first. The paragraph is a big LIE. Even if you ask, Valley Metro will forbid people form exercising their 1st Amendment right on any of their properties at all. I wrote this email to Valley Metro:
Susan Tierney whose email address is STierney@valleymetro.org at Valley Metro gave me this answer which said YOU CAN'T GET PERMISSION to circulate petitions on Valley Metro properties, buses or trains.
Now I have to write Valley Metro and ask them for the public records that say the Feds have told them that the 1st Amendment is null and void on all Valley Metro Properties. I suspect Valley Metro will just ignore my request and blow me off.
